The State Performance Program (SPP) involves the systematic and progressive identification, selection and development of athletes in Under 16 and Under 18 age groups, through to Under 20s, with the aim of preparing players to represent Queensland at the Australian Junior Championships (AJCs) across those age groups. Basketball Queensland’s High Performance Program (HPP) is a three-tier system engineered to identify, develop and foster the skills of young athletes who aspire to compete at the national and international levels of basketball. The HPP provides ongoing support to existing state and national representative players, and places focus on coach development and support.
Basketball Queensland delivers a High performance pathway system for talented and aspiring athletes. The State Performance Manager (SPM) and a team of State Performance Officers (SPO’s) are the BQ staff responsible for organising SPP trials, training and coaching and communicate with the respective regional SPP hub regarding the program.
The top tier of the Basketball Queensland (BQ) elite development pathway, the National Performance Program ( NPP ) is a dedicated and intensive program for Queensland’s elite basketball athletes, providing development, training and support for athletes identified at the national & international level. BQ, in conjunction with Basketball Australia’s (BA) Centre of Excellence (CoE), identifies Queensland’s elite junior basketball athletes for selection into the NPP each year.

The State Championships provides a pathway for players to develop their basketball career with the potential to be identified for entry into the BQ High Performance Program, and also is a major development activity for Queensland junior referees. The BQ State Championships are proudly supported by Hoop 2 Hoop .
